Electrify now; Methane call to action and further action: EU announcements during the London Climate Week

Launch of the 'Electrify Now' international campaign platform ; endorsement of UN's call to action on methane and commitment to further reduce European emissions: these were the three major announcements made by Dan Jorgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, at the London Climate Week, on 24/06/2026.

Taking place during a major European heatwave, with several all-time British records beaten during the event, the London Climate Week gathers more than 45.000 climate executives and stakeholders. It had been opened by Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary Executive, who delivered a one-hour solemn speech, in which he announced the creation of an AI Environmental Transparency Initative, calling for all AI actors to disclose their land, carbon and environmental footprint. He concluded his speech by a renewed remark: " London isn't just calling, it's cooking!"
