FR / Ademe: updated scenarios for achieving the 2050 carbon neutrality target

ADEME is updating its scenarios for achieving the carbon neutrality target, in line with ‘Transition(s) 2050’ - Season 1’, published between 2021 and 2024, the public environmental agency announced on 16 June 2026.

‘Transition(s) 2050 - Season 1’ “helped inform the development of the 3^rd National Low-Carbon Strategy (SNBC 3), which is currently undergoing public consultation and is due to be formally adopted this summer”, states Ademe. Today, this forward-looking exercise introduces two new features:

• A partnership with RTE, NaTran (formerly GRTgaz), the Foundation for Biodiversity Research, the French Biodiversity Agency, Inria and Cerema. ADEME thus aims to “broaden both its approach and its analytical criteria, whilst also taking better account of the effects of climate change.” ”

• A range of scenarios on varying scales across six local authorities: the Grand Paris Sud Est Avenir Public Territorial Authority, the Pays d’Evian-Vallée d’Abondance Community of Communes, the Maremne Adour Côte-Sud Community of Communes, the Dunkirk Urban Community, the Aix-Marseille Provence…
