EU's Bioeconomy Strategy: launch of three initiatives by the Commission to step up the implementation

Three new initiatives are launched by the European Commission to step up the implementation of the EU's Bioeconomy Strategy, which aims to replace fossil-based resources with sustainable biological ones for a circular, climate-neutral economy, announced the institution on 10/06/2026.

This includes :
• The Bio-based Europe Alliance (BEA) to support market scale-up, "with a mission to mobilise €10 Bn in corporate offtake commitments by 2030". A call for expression of interest is launched until 31/07.
• The Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group (BIDG), new joint initiative of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) and the Commission, to improve access to finance. The group brings together commercial banks, national promotional banks, venture capital funds and institutional investors.

In parallel, the Commission has established an Expert Group on Bioeconomy, which gather for its first meeting on 12/06, to support the implementation of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy.
