EU: launch of T-Med, a trans-Mediterranean cooperation initiative on renewables and cleatechs

T-MED (Trans-Mediterranean Cooperation in Renewable Energy and Clean Technology) is an initiative backed by €5 Bn in guarantees (from the EU's Fedd+ Fund), aimed at mobilising up to €25 Bn in investment in renewable energy and cleantech in the Mediterranean region by 2035. This new initiative was announced at the European Sustainable Energy Week (09 to 11/06) in Brussels by Dubravka Šuica, Commissioner for the Mediterranean, and Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, on 09/06/2026.

Between now and 2035, T-MED aims to develop 15 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity, introduce regulatory reforms in the partner countries and create more than 100,000 jobs in the clean energy sector.

T-MED is part of the Mediterranean Pact, launched on 28/11/2025 in Barcelona, which strengthens EU cooperation with the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
