FR / BRGM and IFPEN ink a partnership agreement "to support and accelerate the energy transition"

BRGM and Ifpen sign a framework partnership agreement on 02/06/2026, the two institutions announced on 03/06.

The five-year agreement covers "four key areas of subsoil potential to support and accelerate the energy transition: carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS), deep geothermal energy, decarbonised hydrogen storage and the potential of native hydrogen, and the modelling of certain deep geological environments".

" BRGM and Ifpen have enjoyed fruitful scientific collaboration for many years on strategic subjects related to the subsoil for the energy transition. […] This framework agreement marks a new stage: it will enable us to better structure, coordinate and steer our joint actions in key areas such as CO2 capture and storage, deep geothermal energy, hydrogen and the modelling of deep geological environments", says Pierre-Franck Chevet, CEO of Ifpen.
