European Commission: publication of prices and levels of support for different categories of SAFs

The European Commission has published the elements used to calculate the price difference between jetfuel and the different types of SAFs (Sustainable Aviation Fuels) for the year 2025, as well as the levels of ETS allowances allocated to support the different types of SAF, in the OJEU of 03/06/2026. Since January 2024, 20 million emission allowances (ETS) have been set aside to support the adoption of the different types of FAS.

The prices retained are: €640/tonne of jetfuel and €73.43/ETS quota. As regards the prices of the 10 SAF included in the scope (essentially bioSAF, e-SAF and hydrogen), and given the absence of market prices, the estimated production cost, plus 10%, is applied (published in an information note by the European Aviation Safety Agency on 26/02/2026).

The main figures are as follows:
• Non-organic renewable fuels (e-fuels): €8,272/tonne, €7,400/tonne difference, with ETS support covering 95% of the residual difference
• Advanced bio-SAF: €3,036/tonne, €2,164/tonne difference, 70% support
• Conventional bio-SAF: €1,925/tonne, €1,053/tonne difference, 50% support
