France 2030: €45m allocated to a research programme dedicated to terrestrial biodiversity (MNHN/CNRS)

Dynabiod: this is the name of the new scientific research programme dedicated to terrestrial biodiversity, led by the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (MNHN) and the CNRS and supported by the Climate, Biodiversity and Sustainable Societies (CBSD) programme agency, the two partners announced on 01/06/2026.

Funded to the tune of €45m over 8 years as part of the France 2030 investment plan, Dynabiod aims to gain a better understanding of "the decline in biodiversity and provide decision-makers with the knowledge and tools they need to protect and restore it, thereby helping to build a sustainable, living future".

To achieve this, the programme will mobilise naturalist collections and citizen science, new observation technologies and AI. Dynabiod's research will provide "a qualitative and quantitative leap forward in our knowledge of the response of plants, invertebrates and their interactions to environmental change", say the co-pilots.
