Death of André Santini, chairman of the Syndicat des Eaux d'Île-de-France (SEDIF) from 1983 to 2026

André Santini, chairman of the Syndicat des Eaux d'Île-de-France (Sedif) from 1983 to May 2026, died on 01/06/2026, the drinking water utility announced on the same day.

André Santini, who was also mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux since 1980, member of parliament for the Hauts-de-Seine department between 1988 and 2017 and vice-president of the Greater Paris metropolitan area from 2016 to 2026, "promoted a resolutely modern vision of drinking water management, reconciling industrial performance, cost control and environmental imperatives", says the Sedif.

André Santini worked in particular to develop decentralised cooperation with the "Solidarité Eau" programme launched in 1986.

"This ambition was enshrined in the Oudin-Santini law on "1% water" passed unanimously by both chambers in 2005. Since then, thanks to this impetus, the Syndicat has carried out more than 300 projects, representing €50 million in aid, for 5 million people around the world".
