FR: "Agriculture should focus less on volume and more on value" (OpinionWay poll)

"The French want agriculture to focus less on volume and more on value: farmers' incomes, product quality, sustainability and local roots. The issue is as much economic as it is social and territorial": this is one of the four main findings of the survey "L'agriculture demain, quel avenir dans nos assiettes?" carried out by OpinionWay on behalf of Make.org Foundation and #agridemain, organisers of the Journées nationales de l'agriculture, under the patronage of the French Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Food Sovereignty, to be held on 05, 06 and 07/06/2026, and published on 29/05/2026.

In this study, the income of the farming community occupies a central place in the main concerns and forecasts of the French for the agriculture of tomorrow.

For example, 25% of respondents believe that ensuring a fair income for farmers should be the priority objective for French agriculture over the next twenty years (ahead of giving priority to product quality, 24%; and producing more locally, 23%).
