"We need real planning at both European and national level for marine energy. The North Sea Declaration showed that this is possible: each Member State committed itself to aligning its actions with European objectives, investing in ports and industry, and adopting a global approach to scale up. The main problem is the lack of an effective initiative to build this European planning. Perhaps we need a change of political and legislative approach on the subject", said Christophe Clergeau, Member of the European Parliament (S&D), at the round table "How Europe plans to scale up and France's part in the picture", organised at the Seanergy trade fair, dedicated to MRE, in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), on 19/05/2026.

He was speaking alongside Tinne Van der Straeten, Managing Director of WindEurope, and Hanno Salecker, Head of Maritime Spatial Planning at the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH).
