Bioeconomy: a call for expressions of interest launched by the European Commission

The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest to participate in the European Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group, a new platform designed to accelerate funding for sustainable, bio-based innovation, on 08/05/2026.

"The initiative follows the adoption of the Strategic Framework for a Competitive and Sustainable EU Bioeconomy and responds to findings from the European Investment Bank’s report Scaling up Europe’s bio-based industries, which underlined both the significant investment potential of the sector and the persistent financing gap affecting demonstration and first-of-a-kind industrial projects", specifies the Commission.

The objective of the platform is "to mobilise coordinated public and private investment, strengthen the pipeline of bankable projects, and advance financing solutions, such as blended finance and risk-sharing mechanisms that can help de-risk investments in innovative bio-based technologies and industrial deployment".
