French Ecological Transition Ministry: Régine Engström, interim Director General of Risk Prevention

Régine Engström was appointed interim Director General of Risk Prevention by decree on 04/05/2026, published in the Journal Officiel on 05/05.

She is currently head of department and deputy to the Director General of Risk Prevention, Cédric Bourillet. Having held this position since 2018, he was appointed Director General of Energy and Climate in a decree published in the Official Journal on 30 April.

Previously, Régine Engström was employed by the City of Paris, first as Head of Resources and Methods (2003-2005) and then as Director of Green Spaces and the Environment (2009-2014). She was also Director General of Eau de Paris (2014-2016). From 2019 to 2021, she headed up strategic partnerships and CSR at Nexity.

Between 2021 and 2023, she was Prefect of the Centre-Val de Loire region and Prefect of the Loiret. In December 2023, as part of her duties, she was sentenced by the Paris Criminal Court to a €25,000 fine and a one-year suspended ban from holding public office.
