European Commission: Céline Gauer appointed Director General of DG Ener

Céline Gauer has been appointed Director-General of the European Union's Directorate-General for Energy (DG Ener), effective from 01/06/2026, the European Commission announced on 28/04/2026.

Céline Gauer has been Director-General of the Reform and Investment Task Force (SG Reform) since February 2025. She was previously Director General of the Task Force Recovery and Resilience (SG Recover) from 2020 to 2025. Earlier in her career, she also held a number of positions at the Directorate-General for Competition (DG Comp), including Director in charge of markets and business in the energy and environment sectors from 2012 to 2018.

"Ms Gauer brings more than 30 years of experience in European policy-making, including significant exposure to energy-related issues, as well as solid expertise in strategic coordination and inter-institutional relations. She has demonstrated a clear ability to manage highly complex policy dossiers", says the European Commission.
