Textiles EPR reform in France: "The guidelines presented mark a structuring stage" (Refashion)

"The guidelines presented by the French Minister for Ecological Transition, Mathieu Lefèvre, on 23/04/2026 mark a structuring step towards the emergence of a truly high-performance textiles and footwear recycling industry in France and Europe", Refashion, the eco-organisation for the Textiles EPR sector, told News Tank on 29/04.

These announcements include:
• "€250 million to finance recyclers;
• mandatory traceability for all players;
• a more realistic collection trajectory and reinforced eco-modulations.

These are concrete measures that respond to strong expectations in the field, and which Refashion welcomes".

According to the eco-organisation, "they reflect a clear political will to reconcile environmental performance, the economic sustainability of the sector and French sovereignty - with concrete long-awaited levers by the sector's players".

This implies "reallocating funding from brand contributions to support this transformation. The main issue is not the amounts released, but an overall overhaul of the model, to make it more efficient".
