G7 Environment: adoption of seven declarations to "build useful convergences" (MTE/France)

"We adopted seven declarations, with all the G7 partners, but also with South Korea, Armenia and Mongolia, who were our guests", declared Monique Barbut, the French Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature, at the end of the two days of discussions of the G7 Environment held in Paris on 23 and 24/04/2026.

The seven declarations concern:

• Desertification and security: Putting the link between desertification, land degradation, water scarcity and the destabilisation of societies on the international agenda;
• Environment track outcomes;
• Mobilising against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing;
• The alliance for the management of marine protected areas;
• The alliance for the financing of nature and people to "change scale in the mobilisation of public and private capital";
• The fight against water pollution in the face of growing pressure on the resource and emerging pollution, in particular PFAS and microplastics;
