Agenda: events not to be missed between 27/04 and 01/05/2026

This week's highlight will be the IMO MEPC 84 meeting taking place in London from Monday to Friday. The shipping sector is following the conference very closely, as a "way forward" on a global framework to decarbonise shipping could come out of this meeting, after the postponement of the negotiations in October 2025.

In Strasbourg, MEPs will vote during the plenary on their position to negotiate the next MFF for 2028 to 2034, among other key regulations for chemicals, the market stability reserve and accounting of GHG emissions.

In the climate policy sector, this week's major event will be the end of the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels (TAFF), which took place from 24 to 29/04/2026 in Santa Marta (Colombia), in the presence of EU Member States, the European Commission and a delegation of the European Parliament.
