Carbon removal and nature credits: eight new projects announced in March and April 2026

In March and April 2026, eight nature-based projects involving carbon credits were announced worldwide.

In the U.S., Microsoft continued its investment in carbon removal activities with two new projects, with Liferaft and Svante (Canada). JPMorgan partnered with Graphyte for agroforestry and carbon removal from agricultural activities. Google, Meta, and McKinsey partnered with Living Carbon for a reforestation project in the Appalachian Region.

In Europe, Earthly and Nattergal announced their collaboration on biodiversity credits in the UK and NAT5 and Carbonapp announced their partnership on the French carbon market.

KPMG Australia announced its commitment to take part in the Koala Friendly Carbon Initiative, a project to help fight koala extinction backed by the NGO WWF. Green Carbon, a Japanese company, and Pesisir Lestari, an Indonesian NGO, announced an MoU to identify sites for mangrove restoration projects.
