Masdar/TotalEnergies: signing of a joint-venture dedicated to renewable energies in nine Asian countries

TotalEnergies and the Emirati company Masdar are creating a joint venture worth $2.2 billion (€1.9 billion) to "accelerate the growth of renewable energies in Asia", announced the French energy company on 02/04/2026. The joint venture, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is equally owned. The management team will be announced at a later date.

The agreement provides for the merger of their activities in the development, construction and operation of onshore solar and wind projects and battery storage in nine Asian countries: Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Uzbekistan.

TotalEnergies and Masdar will contribute assets of comparable value, representing 3 GW of operational capacity and 6 GW in advanced development. This platform, based in Abu Dhabi, will enable the partners to "capture the growth in electricity demand in Asia".
