Climate action: France supports the IPCC "in the face of attempts to slow down the timetable".

"Science is at the heart of climate multilateralism and cannot be negotiated. [...] France expresses its deep concern at attempts to slow down and arbitrarily shift the timetable for publication of the reports of the seventh assessment cycle of the IPCC", stated the French Government on 31/03/2026.

This statement came at the close of the 64^th plenary session of the IPCC, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 24 to 27/03/2026.

According to the French Government, "these actions are aimed at delaying the publication of certain reports beyond the date of conclusion of the second global assessment of the Paris Agreement at the end of 2028. The urgency of climate change requires a response based on the best available scientific data, which is provided by the IPCC".

"It was the indisputable realities set out in the IPCC reports that led to the adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1992 and the Paris Agreement in 2015".
