The NGO Générations futures obtains the cancellation of authorisation for a glyphosate-based weedkiller

In a decision dated 20/03/2026, the Versailles Court of Appeal ruled in favour of the NGO Générations Futures, which was seeking the cancellation of the marketing authorisation for Nufarm's Kyléo, a glyphosate-based herbicide.

According to François Villerette, spokesman for the NGO, "the reason given by the Court is that the Anses, which is responsible for assessing the risks of these plant protection products and for authorising them, did not take into account the risks to biodiversity".

The Anses, "which does not dispute that it did not analyse this risk", points out that "there is no methodology validated at European level on this subject", the Court's decision states.

However, according to European legislation on the authorisation of pesticides, special attention to environmental risks is "expressly required", and "no text makes this conditional on the validation of a methodology at European level", the spokesperson points out.
