European Ocean Board: inaugural meeting of the Expert Group, chaired by Commissioner Costas Kadis

The European Ocean Board, the newly established high-level expert group to support the implementation of the European Ocean Pact, holds its inaugural meeting on 31/03/2026 in Brussels

Chaired by Costas Kadis, Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, the Board brings together 28 leading experts from across Europe, representing trade and business associations, academia, research institutes, non-governmental organisations, and youth organisations, specifies the Commission.

This session will focus on "exchanging views, identifying strategic priorities, and shaping the Board’s future work programme, setting the stage for its long-term impact", to advance the Pact’s comprehensive strategy for the ocean.

Globally, the missions of the Board are to :
• Advise the Commission on achieving the objectives of the European Ocean Pact, including ocean health, competitiveness of the EU blue economy, support to coastal communities, knowledge and research, maritime security and defense, international ocean governance.
