Norway and France renew their partnership to decarbonise European industry

"France and Norway have updated their collaboration in favour of green industry and signed a memorandum of understanding on critical metals to continue to accelerate the ecological transition and thus strengthen Europe's industrial sovereignty", announced the French Ministry of Industry on 24/03/2026.

"This cooperation aims to align industrial strategies, innovate and strengthen European sovereignty", explains the Ministry. The Franco-Norwegian cooperation, which has been in place since 2024, focuses on industry decarbonisation in particular, building on the strengths of both countries.

"In the field of critical raw materials, cooperation between geological institutions, which is essential for European autonomy, has led to the launch of exchanges of expertise, joint programmes and new mapping initiatives", continues the institution.
