Medef: an operational guide for businesses to help them finance biodiversity

The aim of the guide to financing biodiversity, published by Medef, the largest employer federation in France, on 25/03/2026, is "to ensure that French businesses see financing biodiversity as an accessible, pragmatic approach that creates opportunities for them and for the ecosystems and regions in which they operate".

"We see biodiversity not as a constraint, but as a strategic investment, inseparable from the efforts being made to combat climate change and essential to their effectiveness", says Patrick Martin, President of Medef.

This guide, designed as a user's guide, aims to "help all companies, particularly VSEs/SMEs and ETIs, whatever their sector of activity and level of maturity, to better understand what it means to finance biodiversity, and to identify the solutions within their reach".

The document is divided into three parts:
• "Asking the right questions: what resources should be mobilised? At what level should we act? What ecological goal should we be targeting?
• Refer to the solutions map to find the most appropriate tool.
