European Chemicals Agency (ECHA): launch of a consultation about the proposed restriction of PFAS

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has launched a consultation on the proposed restriction of PFAS, "to help inform its Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis's final opinion by the end of 2026", declared the Agency on 25/03/2026.

The consultation, open from 26/03 until 25/05, invites stakeholders — including industry, non-governmental organisations, producers and developers of alternatives, researchers and members of the public — to provide evidence‑based comments.

The Agency specified that "the focus of the consultation is the SEAC draft opinion agreed by the Committee on 10/03. ECHA has published consultation guidelines and a mapping of PFAS uses to help contributors prepare and submit relevant information".

Next, the relevant information submitted "will be assessed to confirm or modify the Committee’s conclusions as presented in the draft opinion".
