Climate change adaptation: "A gradual shift in research themes" (L. Villard)

"We have seen a gradual shift in the focus of research towards adaptation to climate change. At the beginning of the century, most research focused on how developing countries could adapt. Today, they are more interested in the concepts of climate risks and food security", Lionel Villard (Esiee Paris), the researcher in charge of the CorText project, told News Tank on 20/03/2026.

This analysis is based on the mapping of existing research worldwide on subjects related to climate change adaptation, carried out as part of the project supported by the Fondation de l'Université Gustave Eiffel.

"Considering that the 'mitigation' part had already been dealt with extensively, the Foundation's ambition was to have a better vision of this research and thus to position the Ile-de-France region, and more specifically Gustave Eiffel University, on these issues", explains the researcher affiliated to the French research laboratory Lisis (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Sciences Innovations Sociétés).
