The British Government set out a strategy to develop a commercial framework for the nuclear fusion industry in the country, 16/03/2026.

The Government is planning a market framework to attract private investment in fusion. It plans £2.5bn of public investment in research and development. A specific regulatory framework and a simplification of planning procedures have also been announced. By implementing its strategy, the UK aims to create 10,000 jobs in fusion by 2030.

" The UK has world-class capabilities and this industry-led strategy allows the sector to confidently view the UK as an ideal location for the development, deployment and supply of fusion technologies," says Tristram Denton, Director of the UK Fusion Industry Association

Vinci also announces that it has won a £200m (€231m) design-build contract for the STEP project, which aims to develop a prototype fusion power plant.
