Industrial Accelerator Act: "We need to come up with our own clean alternative" (B. Eickhout, Greens/EFA)

"We need proposals to make very clear where the European industry should be going towards. The only way to be competitive in the world is to put out an alternative to America's deregulation and Trump agenda, who is clearly going for a fossil economy", declared Bas Eickhout, president of the Greens/EFA at the European Parliament, on 03/03/2026.

He spoke prior to the highly-anticipated presentation of the Industrial Accelerator Act, on 04/03, by Stéphane Séjourné, Executive VP of the European Commission for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, which has been postponed multiple times.

"We need to come up with our own answer, with a clean alternative, which was mentioned by the Commission in its communication on the Clean Industrial Deal. Finally, after one year, we get some proposals that is putting that into action", he said.

"What is very important is that we are identifying very clearly the clean technologies and the energy-intensive industry, where the massive transition needs to take place, that we make sure that industry is growing in Europe".
