France: "10% of electric commercial vehicles and 2% of heavy goods vehicles, it's not enough" (M. Barbut)

"In 2025, electric commercial vehicles accounted for just 10% of sales and electric heavy goods vehicles for 2%. It's an encouraging start, but it's not enough", said Monique Barbut, French Minister for Ecological Transition, Biodiversity and International Negotiations on Climate and Nature, on 20/02/2026.

"If we want to accelerate this momentum, we need to remove certain obstacles and give companies the visibility they need to get started. This is precisely the purpose of the electrification plan on which a working group will be asked to work", she announced at a themed meeting dedicated to the greening of road logistics.

Organised by her ministry and the ministry of transport, this event prefigured the launch of a working group on the electrification of transport, which is due to culminate in May 2026 in a major plan for the electrification of uses within industry, the digital sector, transport and construction.
