From 11/02 to 18/02/2026, the European Investment Bank allocated €180M and €150M for the transition of EU transports, respectively for high-speed electric trains in Italy and the deployment of 4 000 electric refrigerated vehicles in France, Italy and Spain.

A guarantee facility of up to €380M has been signed between the EIB and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, the Spanish global bank, to support green projects. The EIB also committed to €34M to expand solar panel production in Romania.

The city of Thessaloniki, in Greece, will be supported with €30M to invest in its climate resilience and sustainable urban development, as the city is part of the 103 EU cities awarded a Commission's Mission Label for climate-neutral and smart cities under the Horizon Europe Programme.
