KernD, the German nuclear industry association, joins nucleareurope as full member

Close to 15 years after the country decided to shut down its nuclear power plants, the German nuclear industry association (KernD / KernTechnik Deutschland) has joined nucleareurope as a full member, announced the European nuclear association on 16/02/2026.

Although Germany does not currently operate any nuclear power plants, the country houses multiple supply chain and fuel cycle companies. It plays a key role in the European nuclear value chain, especially as the political landscape in the country is evolving towards a more positive framework for nuclear.

Commenting on the accession, Thomas Seipolt, Chairman of the Board of KernD, said: “With nuclear energy gaining renewed focus across Europe, nucleareurope is an ideal partner for KernD and the German nuclear industry. Germany brings strong industrial expertise and research capabilities to the European nuclear value chain, and our members are committed to contributing to competitiveness, security of supply, and Europe’s climate and energy sovereignty."
