Reju (Technip Energies) is setting up a textile-to-textile 'regeneration hub' plant in Lacq, France

Reju, a textile-to-textile regeneration company owned by Technip Energies, decided to set up its "regeneration hub" plant in Lacq, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region of France, after "three years of R&D carried out on its demonstrator in Frankfurt", it announced on 12/02/2026.

"Since 2023, Reju has focused on tackling an increasingly serious problem: textile recycling". The aim is to transform textile waste into recycled polyester, "through the depolymerisation (process that separates the fibres) and repolymerisation (reconstruction of virgin fibres) of polyester", explains Patrik Frisk, Reju's CEO.

This new plant will be able to produce 50 Mt of rBHET, a raw material regenerated from textile waste. It will then be repolymerised to produce "Reju PET", a new polyester, for which Reju promises a "carbon footprint 50% lower than that of virgin polyester".

Every year, "132 Mt of textiles are produced in the world and 121 Mt of textile waste is generated. Only 15% of this waste is collected via the donation circuit, and only 1% is regenerated into new clothes".
