CBAM: "Commission risks eroding investor confidence and undermining the market trust" (Letter/Industry)

"At a time of heightened geopolitical and economic uncertainty, Europe's ability to offer stable and foreseeable rules represents a decisive competitive advantage, write Hydrogen Europe and five other industry organisations in a letter to the Envi Committee and the Chair of the Envi Council on 11/02/2026. To strengthen this advantage, we call for the removal of Article 27a of the CBAM Regulation, which undermines market confidence and risks jeopardising investment in decarbonisation".

Hydrogen Europe, the Hydrogen Council, the Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, the Business for CBAM coalition, the International Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers and the European Industrial Gases Associations ask for the removal of the temporary suspension mechanism, introduced in the latest amendment of the CBAM on 17/12/2025.
It introduces the possibility for the Commission to remove goods from the scope of the CBAM through a Delegated act if their inclusion causes "severe harm to the internal market due to serious and unforeseen circumstances related to the impact on the prices of goods.…
