"The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will introduce a new organisational structure from 01/03/2026 that will strengthen its ability to implement its expanding mandate and respond to future opportunities", announced the institution on 09/02/2026.

"The new structure aligns with our strategic direction, which emphasises strengthening chemical safety, advancing regulatory assessments, digital and data transformation, and supporting EU sustainability goals", specifies the agency to News Tank on 10/02.

In concrete terms, ECHA will " add one more directorate to its structure, which leads to changes to many of its directorates and units".

ECHA especially mentioned the centralisation of data services into one directorate "to support ECHA’s expanding responsibilities, including data-intensive tasks. As a data driven organisation and the lead for the future EU Common Data Platform on Chemicals, ECHA requires robust data protection and information security measures to ensure secure handling and sharing of sensitive regulatory data across EU agencies".
