Wind power/EU: in-depth foreign subsidies investigation into Goldwind's activities

The European Commission announced the opening of an in-depth investigation into the activities of Goldwind Science & Technology, a Chinese turbine manufacturer, under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation on 03/02/2026.

The EU had announced the opening of a preliminary investigation on its own initiative on 09/04/2024 on the subject. Requests for information have been sent to several companies in the wind energy sector in the EU, including Goldwind. "On the basis of this investigation, the Commission has identified indications that Goldwind may have benefited from foreign subsidies likely to distort the internal market", says the institution.

The in-depth investigation will focus on the existence of foreign subsidies distorting the EU internal market, including direct subsidies, preferential tax measures and financing in the form of loans. Their payment could improve Goldwind's competitive position in the EU.
