PFAS: "One of the biggest civil lawsuits in Europe" against Arkema and Daikin Chemical in France

"We have just launched one of Europe's largest civil lawsuits against PFAS. The summons to Arkema and Daikin Chemical marks a real step forward in the fight we have been waging since 2022 in the 'Chemical Valley', near Lyon", said Emma Feyeux, head of environmental health projects at French association Notre Affaire à Tous, on 02/02/2026.

The association officially announced the start of the proceedings, brought alongside the other association "PFAS contre Terre" and filed with the Lyon judicial court, aimed at "determining the criminal wrongdoing" of the two companies based at the Oullins-Pierre-Bénite site (next to Lyon, Rhône department).
Since 2022, "it has been increasingly documented, thanks in particular to the investigation carried out by the association Vert de Rage in collaboration with the teams of the French TV investigation show Envoyé Spécial, that the two companies have been dumping toxic substances for years, with full knowledge of the risks".
