Northern Lights: new charter agreements for three CO₂ transport vessels

Northern Lights has awarded agreements for new CO₂ and liquid CO₂ transport vessels, announced the Norwegian storage and transport services company on 29/01/2026.

Specifically, it concerns :
• A charter agreement to a consortium made of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (known as K Line), and MISC Berhad for one new liquid CO₂ transport vessel. A second vessel will be awarded in April 2026.
• Two charter agreements awarded to Mitsui O.S.K Lines, for two new CO₂ transport vessels.

The three vessels awarded will "each have a 12 000m3 cargo capacity", specified Northern Lights.

The ships will be owned by the shipping companies Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line), MISC Berhad, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and built by Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co. Ltd (DSOC) and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. LTD (HHI).The newbuilds are to be delivered for start-up of charter services to Northern Lights in the period from second half of 2028 to first half of 2029.
