ISW-CWP: EU reaffirms "commitment to science-based multilateralism" in Geneva

"The EU has played an active role in supporting the establishment and implementation of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution (ISP-CWP) reaffirming its commitment to independent science and evidence-based multilateralism", declared the European Commission's DG Clima, on 02/02/2026.

This new panel gathered for its first plenary in Geneva from 02 to 06/02. The ISP-CWP "completes the global science-policy architecture alongside the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the International Resource Panel (IRP)".

According to Jessika Roswall, Commissionner for climate, circular economy and water resilience, "in turbulent times for global cooperation, the EU is choosing continuity, credibility and science".
