Floating wind: the Union Belliloise lodges an appeal with the EU against a wind farm project in Brittany

An action brought by the "Union belliloise pour l'environnement et le développement" before the General Court of the European Union against the financing of a floating wind farm off Belle-Île was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 02/02/2026.

The action, dated 01/12/2025, seeks the annulment of a decision by the European Commission validating a State aid scheme notified by France "to support the construction and operation of three offshore wind farms, one off southern Brittany and two others in the Mediterranean".

According to the association, "in concrete terms, this involves the granting of €11.4 Bn in public funding over 20 years, including €3.8 Bn" for these three floating wind farms, "in the form of CfDs for the sale of electricity by the future operator of the farm".

This funding was approved by the European Commission on 05/08/2025, "in consideration of the Framework on State aid to support the Clean Industry Pact", says the association.
