EIB Group: €100Bn in new financing in 2025 ; "almost 60% of total went to green projects" (N. Calviño)

“2025 was a historic year for the EIB Group, with €100 Bn in new financing. This volume will be maintained in 2026. Almost 60% of total financing in 2025 went to green projects. This is not only necessary for the planet, but also contributes to growth and competitiveness,” said Nadia Calviño, President of the group, on 29/01/2026, in Brussels.

She was presenting the EIB Group’s 2025 annual results, covering the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund.

These green projects include “large energy grids and interconnectors, the deployment of storage and renewables, clean technologies for the decarbonisation of heavy industry, as well as adaptation investments, such as water infrastructure, reinforcing the resilience of economies and societies to climate change and its impacts”.

In 2025, the EIB Group allocated in particular:
• “€33 Bn to financing Europe’s energy security, including €11.6 Bn for grids and storage and €11 Bn for renewable energy sources;
