“Our long-term vision is to become a port in transition. This is central and will remain so in the coming years and decades. Projects on circularity, low-carbon molecules and collective CO₂ infrastructure will take further shape in 2026,” said Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, on 27/01/2026.

“The position of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges will be strengthened globally through the development of partnerships, not only within Europe but also beyond, with a focus on the energy transition,” he said during the presentation of the 2025 annual review and the 2026 outlook.

Referring to transition-related projects, he said that “the easiest measure is the installation of shore power across all terminals, which will be mandated by the European Commission before 2030 and is therefore being fully implemented. Battery parks are another area that is under full development across Europe.”
