Engie signs 10-year Biogas Purchase Agreement (BPA) with PepsiCo in the UK

A 10-year biomethane supply contract has been signed between Engie and PepsiCo UK, the French energy company announced on 21/01/2026. The contract, which starts in 2027, is signed as a Biogas Purchase Agreement (BPA). "It represents an investment of £70m (€80m)," said Alan Whitehead MP (Labour Party).

Engie has launched the construction of a biomethane plant with an annual capacity of 60 GWh in the north of England, the entire production of which is contracted to PepsiCo. This is equivalent to the gas consumption of around 5,000 homes. This long-term contract is the first signed in the UK food industry. It is expected to reduce PepsiCo UK's annual emissions by more than 10,900 tonnes.
