This week's highlight will be the signing of the Mercosur agreement on Saturday in Paraguay by Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, following the approval by a majority of Member States. The BBNJ (Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdictions) Agreement, or High Seas Treaty, will come into force on Saturday after its ratification by more than 60 countries. On this occasion, several events will be organised in Geneva, including a Conference on the role of multilateralism in protecting the oceans.

In Brussels, working parties will meet at the Council to discuss the CBAM, Maritime Issues, and Genetic Resources and Innovation in Agriculture. A workshop will take place at the European Parliament on 'Planetary Health: A Critical Discipline for the Future' in the presence of Prof. Johan Rockström, Director at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
