"With an estimated average temperature of around 14.0°C, i.e. an anomaly of +1.0°C compared with the 1991-2020 normal, 2025 will rank as the 4^th or 3^rd warmest year ever recorded in France since measurements began in 1900, behind 2022 and 2023 and ahead of 2024", says Météo-France in its 2025 climate report, published on 15/12/2025.

Examples of remarkable temperatures in cities in 2025 include:
• 42.5°C in Angoulême (Charente) and 42.1°C in Bergerac (Dordogne) on 11/08/2025;
• 9 days of hot weather (maximum temperature over 35°C) in June in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), Carcassonne (Aude) or Nîmes (Gard), 11 days in Avignon (Vaucluse);
• 25.4°C on 19/09/2025 in Val-d'Isère (Savoie, Alt. 1850 metres);
• 30.4°C at the "coolest of the night" in Caixas (Pyrénées-Orientales) on 16/08/2025, the second highest value ever recorded nationwide.
