Spanish renewable company Solarig to invest € 350 M in Poland to produce 1TWh/year of biomethane

The Spanish renewable energy group Solarig will invest €350 M (PLN 1.5bn) in the Polish biomethane market through its green gases subsidiary Biorig, the company announced on 17/12/2025. The project aims to create a biomethane platform with a production capacity of 1 TWh/year, generated by 20 plants located in seven Polish regions.

Biorig’s development strategy in Poland will focus on cooperation with local developers and suppliers. The company plans to acquire ready-to-build brownfield projects and to complement them with greenfield developments. It will rely on its experience in the construction, management and operation of biomethane plants in other European markets (with more than 40 biomethane facilities under development across Spain and Italy) to further develop these assets.

The biomethane produced will be supplied mainly to industrial customers, in particular energy-intensive manufacturers, via gas grid connections and long-term biomethane purchase agreements (BPAs) to secure long-term revenues.
