Wind power: 442,800 jobs in Europe IN 2024; shortages expected by 2030 (WindEurope)

Europe’s wind energy sector employed 442,800 people in 2024, according to a WindEurope report published on 15/12/2025.
Of these, 210,700 jobs, or 48%, were direct positions within wind energy companies. A further 232,100 jobs, or 52%, were indirect, covering activities where the wind industry interacts with other parts of the economy.
Onshore wind accounted for 161,300 direct jobs and 185,500 indirect jobs. Offshore wind represented 49,400 direct jobs and 46,600 indirect jobs.
Manufacturing is the largest source of employment, representing almost half of all direct jobs, with 100,050 positions. More than 250 factories across Europe produce wind turbine components.

" The sector is facing a critical shortage of engineers, technicians, project managers and specialist operators. Identifying priority roles at each stage of the lifecycle is essential for targeted training and optimal resource allocation," says WindEurope.
