KLM's call to Dutch policymakers to create a national SAF fund

"Real progress can only be achieved if government and industry work together and if the Government takes a more active role. KLM urges policymakers to adopt the call of the Wennink report 'The Route to Future Prosperity' for the government to invest in a national Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) fund. Such a fund would enable the Netherlands to accelerate the production of alternative aviation fuels and make them more affordable, thereby accelerating the sector’s sustainability", declared the Dutch airline KLM, on 12/12/2025.

The aviation company outlines the need for "collective investments" for the future of the aviation sector, rather than the need for restrictions. "Doing so would undermine the Netherlands' competitive position and the global connectivity on which our prosperity depends", highlighted the authors.
