U.S. Department of Agriculture to launch a regenerative pilot program with $700 M subsidies for farmers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture launched its NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) Regenerative Pilot Program, investing $700 M "to help American farmers adopt practices that improve soil health, enhance water quality, and boost long-term productivity, all while strengthening America's food and fiber supply", it announced on 10/12/2025.

$400 M will be allocated through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and $300 M through the Conservation Stewardship Program. It is designed for voluntary farmers through targeted support. To access the funding, they will have to follow harmonised requirements, including:

• A whole farm assessment that must meet NRCS planning criteria at least in the soil and water resource categories;
• Implementation of at least one primary regenerative management practice;
• Soil health testing at least at the beginning and end of the contract.
