BNP Paribas Foundation: 11 scientific projects granted for its "Climate and Biodiversity Initiative"

The BNP Paribas Foundation unveiled the 11 research projects awarded for its 2026-2028 "Climate and biodiversity initiative", on 11/12/2025. For its 6^th edition, the Initiative is dedicated to Ocean and coastal ecosystems, thanks to the “Ocean Decade” label awarded by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.

Chosen among 160 applications, the 11 selected projects cover various areas (Senegal, the Gulf of Guinea, the Mediterranean sea, the Arctic ocean, etc.), and topics (marine megafauna, oyster farming, deep-sea biodiversity, the Arctic microbiome, corals, phytoplankton, benthic organisms, and global fisheries).

The final selection was made by an international scientific committee composed of 9 renowned experts (from institutions such as the National Center for Scientific Research - CNRS, the Research Institute for Development - IRD, and the University of Würzburg), based on criteria of scientific excellence, impact, and innovation.
