RWE Renewables Europe & Australia: Sopna Sury Chief Executive Officer as of 01/04/2026

Sopna Sury has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, the energy company announced on 09/12/2025. She will take up her position on 01/04/2026. She replaces Katja Wünschel, who is leaving the company to become director of development at Vonovia, a German company operating in the residential real estate sector.

Sopna Sury was previously director of hydrogen operations at RWE Generation SE. She has also worked for Uniper and E.ON and holds a doctorate in international economics.

RWE Renewables Europe & Australia develops, builds and operates onshore wind, solar and battery storage facilities in Europe and Australia.
