France Nature Environnement : Jean-François Julliard appointed Director General from 01/01/2026

Jean-François Julliard has been appointed Director General of France Nature Environnement with effect from 01/01/2026, the federation announced on 04/12/2026. He succeeds Bénédicte Hermelin, who has held this position since October 2018 and is retiring.

This transition between the two presidencies has been underway since the beginning of 2025, guaranteeing "the continuity of FNE's actions and projects, in a context where the environmental emergency requires stability and determination", according to the French association.

Jean-François Julliard has headed Greenpeace France since 2012. A journalist by training, he spent nearly ten years at Reporters Without Borders, first as head of the Africa programme, then as director general between 2008 and 2011.

His four priorities for FNE are:
• diversifying resources to ensure the federation's independence and resilience;
• strengthening citizen mobilisation to support advocacy actions;
• defending the scientific voice in the face of challenges;
• expanding by welcoming new associations and strengthening territorial roots.
